The Antidote To Poetry

What is poetry?
Is it pure competition?
Politically speaking correctly to get
The audience attention,
Or is it the poet wearing their
Ego on their shoulder to get
Noticed for people to applaud
The noise they make
Some have lost the importance
of the movement
We support only what we
Can benefit from leaving others
Discouraged and distorted from
the 'local" fame we claim.
Poetry is simply none of these
things
But it is a movement of change
A movement of expression to be free
And speak a new level of history
But many us poets are to blind to see
'Cause we want the fame steadily
Struggling trying to make a name
For ourselves.
When all we have to do is
be true to our art form
And let our passion speak
For itself.
